Divi theme by Elegant Themes is a hugely popular WordPress theme and builder. Many website owners choose this because it works very visually: what you see is what you get. Still not convinced? Find out here what this design tool can do for you as an entrepreneur.

1. Visual method

When you build a web site with Divi, you immediately see what you’re doing. Every change, you make, you can see in real life. Easy both for beginners and web designers who have a fast work pace.

As a web designer, I like working with Divi because I am very visually oriented myself. This is also convenient for my clients: they can easily maintain and modify their websites after the launch.

2. Divi theme is theme and builder in one

When you start with WordPress, you need both a theme and a builder. With the theme you create the web design, with the builder you put everything in place. What makes Divi special is that it is both a theme and a builder. No need to install a theme and a builder first, here you have two birds with one stone!

Again, this is easy for users new to WordPress web design: you don’t have to learn two different things, just focus on Divi and WordPress!

3. Many opportunities

With Divi, you have about 40 modules at your disposal. In doing so, you will find sliders, CTAs (call to actions; prompting a customer to take action), a contact form, a photo gallery, social media buttons and much more. By the way, Divi uses Google Fonts, allowing you to choose from more than 1,300 fonts!

Are you in need of more? The internet is full of specially developed fonts and other plugins you can add to Divi!

4. Build website from scratch

Designing a website all your own way? It’s possible in Divi. Using sections, rows, columns and modules, you can design your website the way you want. Also, you can really go either way with the header (upper part of the website) and the footer (lower part of the website). By the way, Divi works a little differently than builders like Elementor or Gutenberg, the standard WordPress builder: Divi does not work on the block principle, but in rows.

If you go for this, know that you will be working longer. Of course, you can also outsource it to a web designer who likes to work with Divi.

Building a header and footer? It’s a little different in Divi. Follow these steps to create a great header and to create a beautiful footer in Divi!

5. Building website using a template

Don’t feel like starting from scratch? With Divi, you have more than 300 layout packs or templates to choose from. By choosing this, you speed up the construction process considerably. Also, you can actually customize everything to your liking.

As a web designer, I also offer this opportunity to clients. I think it limits creativity a bit, but it does give direction to your project.

By the way, with Divi you can also design very nice mobile websites. Read here how to make your website responsive in Divi.

6. Not much knowledge of code required

Okay, it is perfectly possible to build a Divi website without knowledge of code (HTML, CSS or Javascript). But if you really want to design it your way, Divi allows you to add code very easily through the theme or in the builder.

Personally, I always add CSS, HTML or Javascript to Divi websites for clients. This often makes the design just a little tighter and the website sometimes more user-friendly.

7. Great help desk

Whatever you’re struggling with, there is always a staff member at Elegant Themes who can get you started on solving your problem. Once you have purchased the theme, you are entitled to support. Nice to know they are knowledgeable, friendly and can look over your shoulder. Are they not getting there either? Then they can refer you.

Often I don’t need them, but they sometimes help me out when I have very technical questions. As in conflicts between a plugin and a theme.

8. Good deal

If you want a one-year license, you pay $89 USD per year. You can use that license on an infinite number of websites, which in itself is a very good deal. If you go for lifetime access, you will pay only $249 USD for unlimited use. So this is also a good price for web designers and agencies.

Personally, I let my clients choose: either they hitch a ride on my license, or they purchase their own.

9. Lots of documentation and tutorials

If you have a problem with something, you can always consult instructional videos and written explanations. Not only Divi itself has a lot of material, via Google and YouTube you will come across a lot of information. By the way, did you know that ChatGPT can also write code for Divi?

Also fun is the facebook group Divi Theme Users. Here you can follow whole conversations between Divi web designers about which way to design is most efficient, because often you can do things two or three ways in Divi!

10. Accelerate workflow with Divi Library and Divi Cloud

People with large websites, don’t have to recreate their design all the time. On your website, you can also save a section, row or module to the library and have it reappear on another page. Want to transport sections, rows, modules or entire layouts to another Divi website? You can do that too, by using Divi Cloud!

While building websites, I always use the Divi Library. The Divi Cloud sometimes comes into play, but I mainly do that for people who order multiple websites from me.

Divi Cloud was introduced in 2022. In this article I will tell you about my experiences with Divi Cloud.

Conclusion

So not only can you do a lot with Divi, it’s also an incredibly good deal. Also, this theme and builder is useful for both novice website builders and advanced web designers. Whether you want a simple, sleek one-pager or an elaborate web shop, Divi makes it possible.
